GM Alireza Firouzja won the 2022 Saint Louis Rapid & Blitz with a final score of 26 points. He not only won the event with four rounds to spare, and finishing the event five points ahead of the field, but was also briefly the world’s number one in blitz by rating.
GM Hikaru Nakamura finished in second place overall, staging a powerful comeback after finishing last in the rapid segment. He regained his world number-one blitz spot by the tournament’s end. GMs Fabiano Caruana and Maxime Vachier-Lagrave tied for third.

Firouzja earned $40,000 for first place, Nakamura took in $30,000 for second, and Caruana and Vachier-Lagrave each made $22,500 after splitting third-fourth.

The 2022 Saint Louis Rapid & Blitz is the fourth leg of the 2022 Grand Chess Tour and the last of its speed chess events. Players compete in a 10-player rapid (25+10) round-robin and a 10-player blitz (5+2) double round-robin for their share of a $175,000 prize fund.
